1. For a central first base with old Seoul close by

    Myeongdong Station is on Line 4, while nearby Euljiro and the wider Jongno area open different subway choices. The value is not one perfect station: it is being close to old-city walks, museums, markets and central shopping without making a south-side appointment the center of every day.     Choose this first when the itinerary begins with Jongno, Myeongdong and the palaces. It also gives a tired first evening options that do not require crossing the river, provided the exact accommodation block matches the plan.

    Myeongdong and Jongno are not interchangeable hotel pins. Shopping streets, office blocks and hanok lanes feel different after dark, and some addresses are farther from a station exit than the district label suggests.

    Plot the hotel entrance against Myeongdong, Euljiro 1-ga, Jongno 3-ga or another actual station. From Incheon Airport, AREX Express terminates at Seoul Station; plan the onward leg instead of treating Seoul Station as arrival at the hotel.

  2. For AREX All-stop access and an active evening outside

    Put it first in your own order if the west side, nightlife or a simple Incheon arrival matters more than palace proximity. The All-stop train serves Hongik University; AREX Express does not.

    A lively district does not guarantee a lively or quiet hotel block. Hongdae, Yeonnam, Hapjeong and Mangwon have different final walks. Check room reviews for noise and luggage access instead of generalizing from the station name.

    Save the actual exit and building entrance. If the address is in Mangwon or Hapjeong, calculate that last leg separately; do not book from a map card that says only Hongdae.

  3. For a trip weighted to south-Seoul appointments and shopping

    Gangnam is the practical base when most fixed addresses are already south of the river: COEX, Apgujeong, Cheongdam, Sinsa, Seocho or a specific appointment.     A south-side base can remove repeated cross-river trips from an appointment-heavy schedule. The area's official tourism page also shows how broad the choices are, from dining and shopping to cultural stops.

    Gangnam Station, COEX, Apgujeong and Cheongdam are not one walkable cluster. Old Seoul and Hongdae may require longer transfers, and the airport route should be compared for your exact building rather than assumed from one district name.

    Plot every fixed appointment, then choose the station that serves most of them. Compare airport bus, rail and door-to-door routes for that exact hotel address.

  4. For an east-Seoul trip with Jamsil as a fixed anchor

    Choosing Jamsil deliberately is better than treating it as a generic first-trip default. It can simplify repeated east-side plans and gives the lake and Mongchontoseong room to become real half-days rather than add-ons.

    It is the farthest option here from many old-city and west-side plans. Lake, tower, mall, hotel and theme-park entrances are separate destinations, and event crowds or seasonal conditions cannot be inferred from a district photo.

    Use the exact hotel or venue entrance as the airport and late-night destination. If only one Jamsil stop exists in a five-day plan, compare a central base before committing to the east side.

Choose a district only after plotting three fixed addresses: accommodation, the first full-day anchor and the latest evening return. Then check the actual station exit, hill or underpass and the final airport leg. A neighborhood name does not establish room quality, quiet, luggage access or a late check-in policy.
